HUNTINGTON COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - A 2-year-old girl is dead after a possible drowning at Salamonie Reservoir Sunday afternoon.
The Huntington County coroner said Aleea Brubaker of North Manchester was playing on a sandbar with family when she went into the water unnoticed.
DNR officials said the family looked back at one point and noticed the child was missing.
They eventually found her in about four feet of water and started giving her CPR.
Officials said the girl was pronounced dead at the scene.
The official cause of death is asphyxia due to drowning, according to the Huntington County Coroner who conducted an autopsy on Monday.
