History of fires at Willows of Coventry

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Friday's fire isn't the first time fire has ripped through the Willows of Coventry. There were fires there back in October and again in November of 2008.

The fire in November caused a lot of damage and displaced 14 families. They were able to receive help from the Red Cross.

Newschannel 15 later learned a tenant accidentally started the blaze by leaving something cooking on the stove. That sparked a grease fire.

Just a month before that, in October, there was another fire. That one was caused by a cigarette or another type of smoking material.

In that fire, 16 units were shut down and two firefighters were hurt.
