FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  Fort Wayne police are still trying to figure out who shot and killed a 44-year-old man at a barbershop in the 1100 block of East Pontiac Street on Wednesday afternoon.

The victim has been identified as Kenton Allen Beckman and an autopsy confirmed he died of gunshot wounds.

Just before 4 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Pontiac Mall on a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found Beckman inside the E and M Barbershop.

Beckman was taken to the hospital in critical condition where he died a short time later.

The shooting happened across the street from Whitney Young Early Childhood Center. LaTasha Bragg said her grandchildren go there and was surprised when she found out how close the shooting was to the school.

"My grandson could have came up here and got a bag of potato chips and it could have been him," she said.

At this time police do not have any suspects and are still investigating.

Police are still investigating three prior shootings this week on the same side of town. The first one happened early Monday morning at Fosters Sports Pub at Clinton and McKinnie. The second shooting was later in the day at the intersection of Warsaw and Boltz. The third one was on Tuesday. Police received reports that shots were fired between two different cars near Lafayette and Senate.

Investigators said at this time, there's no evidence that the shootings are related.
