BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) - A new survey of Indiana's companies has found the state has nearly 47,000 "green" jobs that have arisen from energy-efficiency businesses and related green industries.

The statewide survey was conducted as part of an 18-month U.S. Department of Labor study. It includes the first broad-scale estimates of Indiana's green jobs industries.

The "Indiana Green Jobs" report shows that construction, services and trades accounted for well over 60 percent of the state's green jobs. Manufacturing industries accounted for only about 6,660 of the nearly 47,000 jobs.

The report also found Indiana has about 17,000 jobs that support green business activities, but are not primarily involved in green production.

The Indiana Business Research Center worked with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development on the statewide survey.
