CLEAR LAKE, Ind. (WANE) - A Steuben County family is floating for a cure. Members of the Shank Family are taking turns floating on a raft Friday on Clear Lake for 48 hours.
They're raising money for the Alzheimer's Association and their annual memory walk. They have a team called, "Walk for Dad," because their dad, Tom Shank died back in 2005.
Organizers said this year has been a little cold, but they will persevere.
"We started yesterday at noon. And we will, some will always be floating on that raft until at least by tomorrow at noon. So 48, we may even go a little bit longer, maybe we'll be looking at 55,60 hours this year. Day and night, I slept on it last night" said Laura Storie.
Last year the team raised a little over $12,000. This year the goal is between $10,000 and $12,000.
