FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) The public is encouraged to attend a free hands-only CPR training on Wednesday, July 18 as part of the Three Rivers Festival.
The 45 minute class is held three different times: at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., and 11 a.m. at the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Community Center at 233 W. Main Street.
Each year, around 250 people in Fort Wayne and Allen County suffer out-of-hospital sudden death due to cardiac arrest. Many of these people could be saved if someone in their family or a bystander close to them only knew hands-only CPR.
At the Don’t Miss a Beat training, participants will use manikins or special kits to learn how to perform compression CPR. Trained and experienced CPR instructors teach the classes and volunteer their time for this program.
