INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indiana is looking for some volunteers for a new program called the Indiana Heritage Corps at four state parks.
The Department of Natural Resources says it wants to find 23 volunteers at least 17 years old to clean, restore, and construct a total of 20 miles of trails at Brown County, Pokagon, Fort Harrison, and O'Bannon Woods state parks.
The DNR says the volunteers would begin work late in January and live at the parks. They would receive on-site housing, a living allowance of $335 per month, an education stipend ($2,750), hands-on experience and a chance to earn college internship credit.
Candidates should be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents, pass a strict FBI background check, and make an eight-month commitment.
