Bourbon Street Hideway open for Valentine's Day dining
If you're looking for a cozy, intimate place to take your sweetheart on Valentine's Day, consider Bourbon Street Hideaway in the basement of the Columbia Street West building.
Dimly lit, with exposed brick walls, the New Orleans-themed restaurant is unlike anything else in Fort Wayne. Usually open Thursday, Friday and Saturday only, Bourbon Street will be open Feb. 14 for Valentine's Day serving jambalaya, N'awlins crawfish etoufee, crab-stuffed shrimp and more. If you go, leave room for the chocolate voodoo bread pudding.
•If you can't make it there for Valentine's Day, Bourbon Street Hideaway will be open again Feb. 21. Because how could a restaurant named after the most famous street in New Orleans not be open on Fat Tuesday, the culmination of the Mardi Gras celebration?
For reservations, call 422-7500. The restaurant is at 135 W. Columbia St. on The Landing, accessible by stairs on Harrison Street.
Valentine's buffet
Prime rib, shrimp, salmon, tilapia, catfish, ribs chicken and pulled pork will be on the buffet at the Lucky Moose, 622 E. Dupont Road, on Valentine's Day — along with big pans of bread pudding. The buffet is $14.95 per person 5-9 p.m. Feb. 14 at the restaurant. For reservations call 490-5765.
Chocolate tasting
Here's a sweet way to celebrate Valentine's, if you're free Saturday night. Lincolnshire Church of the Brethren is hosting its 12th annual extravaganza, “A Taste of Chocolate!” This fundraiser features chocolate items from local restaurants, bakeries, chocolatiers, and even some family recipes.
There will be two tastings, 5-6:30 p.m. and 7-8:30 p.m., and one ticket gets you into one tasting time.
In addition to the tasting, there will be live music, a silent auction, raffle tickets and door prizes.
Tickets are $9 for adults, $5 for kids ages 4-10 and free for kids 3 and younger.
Proceeds benefit Blue Jean Diner, an after-school program for neighborhood children. Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling the church at 456-1993.
