INDIANAPOLIS (WANE) -- As part of Visit Indiana Week, May 6-12, the Indiana Office of Tourism Development is kicking off the summer travel season with the release of six new food trails across the state, one of which includes several stops in Fort Wayne.
The new food trails feature more than 90 locally-owned businesses including FARM in Bloomington, the Schnitzelbank in Jasper and Cindy's Diner and Mad Anthony Brewing Company in Fort Wayne. The food trails are featured on VisitIndiana.com under the Delicious Trips category in the Trip Ideas section .
"With the creation of our new food trails, we want to encourage Hoosiers to take advantage of Indiana's culinary tourism destinations," said Amy Vaughan, director of the Indiana Office of Tourism Development. "We also want Hoosiers to vote for their favorites."
The restaurants were selected through a partnership with Midwest Living magazine.
"We selected these restaurants based on their unique menus that support locally-grown food or an atmosphere that reflected the personality of the owners and the culture of the region," said Virginia Nemmers, executive editor, Midwest Living Custom Media Solutions.
Hoosiers can vote for their favorite summer activities and ice cream locations on VisitIndiana.com before noon on Thursday, May 10. The Top 10 in "Best of" Ice Cream and Summer Destinations will be announced on Friday, May 11.
