FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Elvis is back in Fort Wayne! Or rather, an Elvis impersonator is.
The King performed at the Memorial Coliseum in June 1972. About 8,000 fans attended his last performance in Fort Wayne.
On Thursday, the anniversary of Elvis' death, one of the best Elvis impersonator's in Fort Wayne performed on the roof at Heritage Park at 2001 Hobson Road.
This Elvis pledged to stay on the roof until the fans below pledge a total of $1000 to the Alzheimer's Association.
This is the eighth year Elvis on the roof has helped raise money for the association .
According to the release from the American Senior Communities, they chose an Elvis event because "[t]housands of Fort Wayne area residents loved the music icon since the beginning of his career in the 1950s, when he first visited Fort Wayne. Many of his fans may now be coping with Alzheimer's disease."
Heritage Park is one of eight Fort Wayne-area facilities operated by American Senior Communities, which provides care for people with Alzheimer's disease through Auguste's Cottages. For more information about Heritage Park, please call 260-484-9557, or visit the website.
