INDIANAPOLIS (WANE) – One Powerball ticket purchased at a Columbia City gas station matched four of the first five numbers and the Powerball number in Wednesday night's Hoosier Lottery drawing and is now worth $40,000.
According to the Hoosier Lottery, the ticket holder added the Power Play option for an extra dollar which increased the standard $10,000 prize to $40,000.
The ticket was purchased at Columbia City Marathon at 545 West Connexion Way.
The winning Powerball numbers were: 11-17-29-56-57 PB:14. No one matched all six numbers, which has allowed Saturday's Powerball jackpot to grow to an estimated $60 million.
The Columbia City ticket was one of 17 nationwide to match four numbers and the Powerball number. It was one of three which included the Power Play option increasing its worth from $10,000 to $40,000.
The mission of the Hoosier Lottery is to return the maximum net income to the state in a socially-responsible manner. In fiscal year 2011, the Hoosier Lottery generated $188 million in net income which was used to significantly reduce the motor vehicle excise tax for all Hoosier drivers and also supported the pension funds for retired Indiana teachers, police and firefighters.
Player prizes for the fiscal year totaled $495 million and $56 million was earned by Indiana retailers on the sale of Hoosier Lottery products.
Since its inception in 1989, the Hoosier Lottery has produced more than $4 billion in net income for the citizens of Indiana, nearly $1 billion in commissions and bonuses for participating Indiana retailers, and has paid out more than $8.7 billion in player prizes.
The Hoosier Lottery reminds all players to play responsibly.
