Hoosier Hunters Give Back

FORT WAYNE, Ind (WANE) - Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry is a nonprofit organization based in Corunna that is working to eliminate hunger.  Hunters and farmers can donate farm and large game animals at participating butchers, and through Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry the processing fees are covered and the meat is given to local food banks.

Debra Treesh is the Executive Director of Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry.  Treesh says that results from the early 2012 archery season are good.  "More than 300 animals" have been donated "to the cause."  She is "counting on an outstanding firearms season to complete the challenge" of 1000 donated animals.  One thousand animals would translate to 200,000 meals for the needy.

For more on how and where to donate, hunters can visit hoosiersfeedingthehungry.org or call 260-541-0365.
