DENVER (AP) — Vestas Wind Systems is putting some of its factories up for sale, but officials won't say if their tower factory in Pueblo is among them.
Vestas spokesman Andrew Longeteig said in a statement Wednesday a number of the company's manufacturing facilities are for sale, but they won't be identified until negotiations are completed.
Longeteig said the Pueblo tower factory is still ramping up to meet market demand and plans to hire more than 100 people by the end of March. He says the plan is to share production capacity, including a recent contract to manufacture towers for a third party at the Pueblo facility.
Longeteig says the plant sales are part of Vestas' turnaround plan aimed at selling some assets and increasing manufacturing flexibility.
