NJ-based pharmacy recalls intravenous products

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — The New Jersey State Board of Pharmacy says a Tinton Falls-based pharmacy has agreed to halt operations after its voluntary recall of intravenous products.

Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa says Med Prep Consulting Inc. in Monmouth County entered into a consent order Friday to stop producing and shipping medications until at least March 22. The consent order doesn't mean the pharmacy is admitting wrongdoing.

The Board of Pharmacy says the recall includes bags of magnesium sulfate intravenous solution that were delivered to Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut. It also includes magnesium sulfate products that might have been dispensed elsewhere, including in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Authorities say the solution might be contaminated with floating particles.

The Board of Pharmacy, state Health Department and U.S. Food and Drug Administration are investigating.
