BOSTON (AP) — Shares of Avid Technology tumbled yesterday after the company said it was indefinitely postponing a quarterly earnings announcement while it evaluates its accounting. Avid Technology had been scheduled to release fourth-quarter earnings today and hold a conference call for investors. The Burlington-based company says it's postponing the announcement but is unable to estimate when its accounting evaluation will be completed.

BOSTON (AP) — State inspectors say they have found serious safety problems with buses used by a popular discount bus service operating between Boston and New York City. Department of Public Utilities Chairwoman Ann Berwick said inspectors looked at nine buses used by Fung Wah Bus and found serious problems in eight, including cracks to the frames.

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Massachusetts, seven other East Coast states, the federal government and citizens groups from Indiana have reached an agreement with one of the country's largest electricity producers to stop burning coal at two Midwest power plans. American Electric Power has agreed to retire or switch to natural gas two coal-burning units at power plants in Ohio and Indiana by the end of 2015.

BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts gasoline prices have jumped another four cents per gallon in the past week and have now soared 31 cents in the past month. AAA Southern New England says self-serve, regular is selling for an average of $3.76 per gallon. The current price is a penny below the national average and eight cents per gallon higher in-state than at the same time last year.
