Janice Allen

Janice Allen delivers “Coverage You Can Count On” as a general assignment reporter. She joined NewsChannel 15 in August 2007 and loves calling the "Summit City" home.  Janice began her broadcasting career as a reporter at our sister station, WTHI-TV, in Terre Haute, Ind.

Janice is from Wheaton, a western suburb of Chicago. Before moving to Illinois, she also lived in Minnesota, Michigan, and New York, but she considers herself a true Midwest girl at heart. Janice graduated with honors from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Ill.

Janice was awarded a dual diploma in broadcast journalism and communication studies-media and gained her broadcasting experience through different internships. Selected as an Illinois News Broadcasters Association intern, Janice had the opportunity to intern full-time with NBC affiliate WREX in Rockford, Ill. She also spent a semester interning in Chicago at CLTV, the city's 24-hour cable news station. While on campus, she also worked as a producer, reporter and anchor for the Northern Television Center, the campus news station. During her last semester she created, produced, and anchored an entertainment-based news show.

As a general assignment reporter, Janice covers everything from city politics, to crime, to severe weather. During the 2008 presidential election, she covered a number of high profile political events for Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton, along with Barack and Michelle Obama. In addition, she had the rare opportunity to cover both President Obama’s initial announcement of candidacy in Springfield, IL and his inauguration in January.

During all her coverage of presidential politics, she even had the chance to meet and interview Barack Obama!

In her spare time, Janice enjoys traveling, reading, working out and meeting new people. She enjoys being involved in the community and covering the people and issues that affect viewers in northeastern Indiana and northwestern Ohio.
